Do You Need Professional SEO Help?

At what point do you need to look at a contracting a professional search engine optimization company?

This is an interesting question. (I think) Because when you start to ask yourself these kinds of questions you mindset has begun to change from looking at and thinking about your web projects and interests as merely distractions and hobbies that make you a bit of money “on the side”, to things that you might be able to make a decent amount of money from them and perhaps even replace your day job..

So, most people approach this situation in one of two ways. Excessively cautious or excessively optimistic. Bullish or bearish.

Why do you need a professional SEO?

That is a good starting point. Basically SEO is something that everyone can learn. It is not rocket science and it is not a magic elixir who preparation is only open to the initiated. Every webmaster can get good at SEO. But, it takes two things. Time and inclination. If you lack either for one reason or another, then you should consider hiring an SEO.

Do I need one though?

If you website is making more than $10 a day from adsense then I would say you would benefit from hiring an SEO. If you make more than 1 sale a week from affiliate marketing then I would suggest you would benefit from SEO. Basically, if you have a website that is already making money, and you have not yet seriously looked at optimizing the amount of traffic you get from the major search engines you would benefit (profit wise..) from SEO.

Back to pro SEOs. I am all for DIY. I love DIY. But, as I said above, if you do not have the time or motivation to invest in the education process (the more motivation the less time it is going to take because the time will be intense rather than fluffy.. they affect each other..) then you should look at hiring a pro. Pros spend all day every day immersed in search. They are after all pros. I use the same logic as a financial planner. Financial planners are not automatically super smart about financial things. But, they spend all day every day doing it. So, chances are they are going to know more about it than you. And all it is going to take is for them to know one elegant solution and you could benefit big time.

This was never more true than with search and SEO. One small insight could push your traffic to go viral. Because if you pick up 10x the search traffic, one of those people might be a digg power user or a stumble legend. And they alone could send your site viral. (But, to me, 10x the traffic is pretty viral..)

Think about it.
