The Best Way to Help an Addict

If someone you care about is suffering with drug or alcohol addiction, the only thing you should be doing for them is offering to help get them into a drug and alcohol rehab center. Whether it’s your child, your spouse, a parent or just a friend, there is really no other way you can help them, and nothing left to do.

One of the hardest things to do is stop enabling an addict to use. We feel sorry for our loved ones when we know they are sick with addiction. We want to help them through their rough time, and try to prevent anything bad from happening due to their addiction. While it is true an addict will probably continue to use regardless of whether or not we enable them to do so, given a choice most of us would rather not contribute to their demise.

How can you get someone to go for addiction drug rehab treatment? It is really up to them rather than you. All you can do is offer your concern in the form of a private or organized intervention, and can continually make it clear you will support and help them when they are ready to seek treatment and recovery at a rehab.
